Workspot Windows Client 6.0.0

Highlights

  • Feature Release.

  • Support for Global Applications. These are available for a limited selection of Private Clouds. See Workspot Compatibility Matrices.

  • Windows Server support. Users of Windows Server 2022 can install and use the Client to reach their Workspot resources.

  • Limited initial support for virtual smartcards for Workspot desktop/app sign-in. Full support is scheduled for Windows Client 6.1.0.

  • Support for the Webex App VDI Plugin, which optimizes Webex meetings on Workspot desktops by offloading most of the work onto the Client device. This is enabled/disabled in Security Policies and Protocol Policies. The Workspot Client can either use an existing Plugin or manage its installation and updates, controlled by the “Install Webex Client Plug-in” option on the “Add/Edit Group” page.

  • When using three or more monitors, you can now select which monitor to reserve for local use instead of having it chosen for you. See Multiple Monitors for Mac and Windows Clients.

  • The Client now reports the apparent geographic location of the Client (based on external IP address) as part of each Customer Survey sent to Workspot Trends.

  • The Client now reports the effective Security Policy, Time Limits Policy, Protocol Policy, Gateway Policy, enabled Plugins, and Posture Check details to Workspot Watch for each desktop/app session.

  • Posture checking for OS security updates now occurs in the background when possible, minimizing user-perceived delays.

Supported Platforms

Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server 2022.

Installation

Installing the Release Manually

The Client will be available for manual installation from Workspot's download site (https://download.workspot.com) using the link below:

Installing the Release Automatically

Workspot’s (highly recommended) automatic updates via Deployment Rings will start after the release as follows:

  • The Stable Ring (recommended for most users) is always set to the most recent production release.

  • The Preview Ring (recommended for beta testers and early adopters) is always set to the most recent beta release or production release, whichever is newer.

Known Issues

  •  Posture Checking is not supported for the Windows Server version number but the Client attempts to enforce it anyway. Disable posture checking on Security Policies that apply to Windows Server Client users.

  • Posture check results are not cached in Kiosk Mode. In particular, this makes the test for Windows Update security patches slow. If updates to your Kiosk-Mode devices are managed routinely by your IT and not end-users, consider disabling this test.

  • When running on a VMware Windows 2000 server, the Client will sometimes fail to close the remote desktop/app window and will leave a black window or screen on the Client device instead. This can be closed through the “X” icon.
