Workspot Global App

How important is Global App?

Customers using multiple private cloud datacenters need to manage the VDI-allocation to their end-users and subsequently manage them centrally. For some customers, it’s also imperative to evenly allocate users’ sessions and achieve an equal distribution of load across all datacenters.

What do they do?

This selective feature allows users to bring pools created across multiple datacenters/private clouds under one single Global App. Applications hosted on Global App can be assigned directly to a user or to a group through a bundle. With Global App, every new user will get a session from the server that is least loaded, irrespective of the which data center is housing that server.

  1. Create a list of pools across all data centers they want to use

  2. Create a Global App and add these pools to it

  3. Create Applications on the Global App

Use Cases:

  • A customer wants to host their application across multiple data centers for users distributed across the globe. A global app created using pools across all data centers can most efficiently host the applications for all users

  • A customer wants to ensure that all users can get sessions across the servers, so that in case any server is not available, the impact will be minimal. In this case, the “breadth” load balancing method can ensure that the least-loaded server is available for the next new user’s session.
