Introduction
Workspot Control aggregates all events that can be logged from all Workspot components, shown on the Events page. You will be able to search for Control Events for up to 1 year.

Event Columns
By default, the Events page shows all logged items in newest-first order. Error messages are shown in red text, non-errors in black.
As you can see, entries include the following columns:
Time and Date. These are given in Control's timezone. Some messages are generated by Control itself, others by Workspot Clients, Workspot Agents, Workspot Enterprise Connector, and so on. These messages can be delayed, especially when they are related to loss of network connectivity. Control shows the time at which the message was generated, not the time Control received the message.
Event. The actual message. If the event was generated by an action of the Control or Client user, the username is included. Events often include as many as two endpoints and a midpoint (Client device, Workspot desktop/app, RD Gateway), and these are generally indicated, at least indirectly. (The individual Client device may have to be inferred from the username and the Client type.) Error codes and next steps are shown if available.
User. The Control user or Client user, if any. System events have no user.
Location. The general location of the user, as inferred from their IP address. System events have no location.
Device. The user's device. This is "Browser" for users signed into Control or the architecture of the Workspot Client in use. System events have no device.
Event type. One of:
Admin. Actions initiated by a Workspot Control user.
System. Events not associated with a signed-in user, such as backups.
User. Client events, including automated actions such as receiving updated Workspot policies.
VM Desktop. Workspot desktop events reported by the Workspot Agent.
Searching Events
The left-hand column has a search box. Type in a string and press Enter.
Search strings are case-insensitive.
No wildcards are allowed: only literal strings are searched.
Search strings must be at least three characters long.
Substrings ending with a digit or a hyphen may not work. For example, if the word "Comm12" occurs in the log, "Comm12" will work but "Comm1" will not. Substrings ending with letters always work.
Only the "Event" column is searched.
Click the "Exit Search" link to look at the full logs.
Note that the search range tends to reset itself if you change other fields.
Filtering Events by Date
By default, only the events of the past 24 hours are shown. You can set a custom date range with the "From" and "To" boxes:
Click "From." A calendar pops up.
Select the desired year and month from the pull-down menus, then click on the day of the month.
Repeat with the "To" field.
Click "Apply."
Filtering Events by Category
The "Narrow By" section allows you to filter the Events in different categories:
Apps. Selects the Workspot application of interest. (Note: There is no equivalent filter for Workspot desktop pools. Use the pool name as a search string instead.)
Geo. Selects the locations of interest. Admin and User events use the location of the user, VM Desktop events use the location of the desktop, and System events have no location.
Networks. Rarely used. Details TBD.
Devices. Selects the Workspot Client of interest (Windows, Mac, etc.) or the desktop SKU of interest (STANDARD BUSINESS, etc.).
Event Type. Selects the Event types of interest.
To Filter Events
Select the categories of interest.
Press "Apply."
Restoring Vanished Options
Note that pressing "Apply" causes non-selected checkboxes to vanish and not reappear, though the radio buttons remain. For example, if you look at User Events and then want to look at System Events, the System Events checkbox has vanished. To make it reappear:
Click "All Event Types" (which does not vanish).
Click "Apply."
Click "Select Event Types." All the Event Types are now visible.
Select the desired Event Types.
Click "Apply."
Use this same process for any "Narrow By" category.
