Highlights

Control Administration

Application Server Pools (VMware and Hyper-V Only)

  • Initial support to schedule template updates on App Server Pools on VMware and Hyper-V. Previously, only the "Schedule Now" feature was available for server pools. This is a selective feature: contact Workspot to have it enabled. See Applying Templates to Cloud Desktop and Application Server Pools.

  • Initial support to perform in-place VM updates on App Server Pools on VMware and Hyper-V, preserving the VM and reimaging only its "C:" drive. Previously, the old VM was deleted and a new one was created. This is a selective feature: contact Workspot to have it enabled.

  • Initial support to reboot all the servers in a Cloud App Server Pool on VMware and Hyper-V using a “Pool Reboot” button on the “Manage Cloud App Pool” page. This is a selective feature: contact Workspot to have it enabled.

  • Control-side support for Global Application Pools on VMware and Hyper-V. These use the same concept as Global Desktop Pools. Client-side support will be available starting with Windows Client 6.0.0.

  • Application server pools on VMware and Hyper-V now support the disconnect and session-timeout features of Time Limits Policies.

Watch-Related Features

  • Additional session information is forwarded to Workspot Watch to better distinguish between different kinds of applications and desktop sessions.

  • Support for forwarding Client-provided details about the policies in effect for each desktop or app session to Workspot Watch.

Client-Related Features

These features all have elements in the Control UI but only work with upcoming but not-yet-released Workspot Clients:

  • Initial Control-side support for Mac Client posture checking, allowing the macOS version of the Client device to be tested before connecting. Client-side support starts with Mac Client 6.1.0. See Security Posture Checking.

  • Initial Control-side support for the WebEx Media Plugin. This is supported on Workspot desktops but not Workspot apps. Client-side support starts with Windows Client 6.0.0.

Known Issues

New Known Issue

  • In Hyper-V, if a VM enters the "CreateFailed" state (as shown in the Hyper-V Console) on an App Server Pool with "In-Place OS Updates" enabled, it will remain unavailable until you use the following workaround:

    • On the "Edit Cloud App Pool" page, disable "In-Place OS Updates" temporarily.

    • Double-check that "Auto Create on Delete" is enabled.

    • Save these changes.

    • Delete the VM. It will be recreated automatically.

    • Re-enable "In-Place OS Updates."
