The current Gateway clusters in Workspot Control operating on earlier versions of Windows Server can utilize the following steps to upgrade their clusters to the most recent supported Windows Server version. This procedure involves refreshing the Gateway cluster image, incorporating new Gateways, and retiring old Gateways after the new ones have been verified.
Updating the Gateway Cluster to the latest version of Windows Server
Log in to Workspot Control.
Navigate to Setup > Gateway.
From the Actions drop-down, select Edit Gateway Cluster.
Change the Default Image to the latest supported Windows Server version (e.g., Windows Server 2025).
Save the changes.
2. Adding New Gateways to the Cluster
After updating the cluster image, add the required number of new Gateways to the cluster.
Allow the new Gateways to build and initialize.
Perform Windows updates on the new Gateways through Workspot Watch.
Refer to: Gateway Patching through Workspot Watch Documentation ( https://docs.workspot.com/docs/workspot-gateway-patching-through-workspot-watch)
Enable the new Gateways and validate user connections to ensure they are functioning correctly.
3. Decommissioning Old Gateways
Once the new Gateways are active and verified:
Place the old Gateways into Maintenance Mode.
Allow existing user connections to drain.
Deallocate/Stop the old Gateways for a minimum of one week.
After the deallocation period, delete the old Gateways from Workspot Control.
4. Verification
Confirm that users are successfully connecting through the new Gateways.
Monitor performance and availability to ensure stability.
