How important is posture check for Mac clients?
Ensuring a secure network requires checking the "posture" of devices that are trying to connect to remote resources. This involves verifying if they have the latest security updates, essential software running, and meet encryption standards. This is especially important for personal devices used for work (BYOD) and aligns with Zero Trust security by granting access only to compliant devices. By acting as a gatekeeper, posture checking reduces security risks and safeguards sensitive data.
What does posture check do?
With Workspot’s posture checking for Mac clients, customers have the choice to selectively enable posture check for the devices to enhance security. At this point in time, this feature supports enforcement of the minimum version of Mac OS that is allowed to connect.
Use Cases:
Customers looking to reduce security risk by disallowing connection from older Mac OSs because, for example, they are no longer supported by Apple and hence do not receive security fixes which increases their security risk.
Customers looking to exercise greater control on their device OSs because they do not want to spread their IT support too thin across several OSs.
