Client Locks After 1 Minute of Inactivity

Issue

Some users may experience their Workspot Client locking after only 1 minute of inactivity. This behavior is typically linked to the Security Policy assigned to their user group.

Example: A user in the Preview Pool Group reported that their VM disconnected after 60 seconds of idle time.

Cause

  • The ‘Preview Pool Group’ is assigned the ‘Medium Security Policy’.

  • The ‘Medium Security Policy’ enforces a default Client Idle Lock Time of 60 seconds (1 minute).
Medium security settings cannot be altered since they are preset with default values, and the Client Idle duration is established at the default, which is 60 seconds (1 minute).

  • This policy is non-customizable and applies to all members of the group.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, the affected group’s Security Policy must be updated to a more flexible policy (e.g., Custom Security Policy) and then refreshed at the client level.

Steps:

  1. Log in to Control.

  2. Navigate to the Users tab.

  3. Click on Groups and select the affected group (e.g., Preview Pool Group).

  4. Change the Security Policy from Medium Security to a Custom Security Policy.

  5. Click Save at the bottom of the page.

  6. Instruct the user to close and re-launch the Workspot Client so the new policy is applied.

Verification

After relaunching, confirm that the Client no longer locks after 1 minute of inactivity. If the issue persists, ensure the policy change has propagated and refresh entitlements if necessary.

Additional Notes

  • The Medium Security Policy is designed for strict environments and enforces short idle lock times.

  • Customers requiring longer idle times should use a customizable security policy.

  • Always verify group membership and assigned policies when troubleshooting idle lock issues.
