Zoom offers a version of its software for installation on remote desktops (including Workspot desktop), called the Zoom Workplace VDI Client. It is used in conjunction with the Zoom VDI Plugin running on the user’s local device. Audio and video streams from Zoom meetings are redirected from the remote desktop to the local device in a way that provides higher performance, higher quality, and better audio/video synchronization.
Note: Confusingly, the Zoom VDI Client is on the server side (not the client side) of the connection between itself and the Zoom VDI Plugin.
Control Configuration
The Workspot Windows Client supports the Zoom Plugin when enabled in Control under Security Policies. The Plugin will be downloaded and used automatically when the Zoom VDI Client is installed on the Workspot desktop and Plugin use is enabled.
Client Configuration
Individual users can choose to disable the use of the Plugin in their Workspot Client settings.
Note: If Zoom is enabled on the Client, the Zoom Plugin is installed and updated automatically in the background, without notifying the user.
Desktop Configuration
Go to Zoom’s VDI Releases and Downloads page and select a current 64-bit Windows version of the Zoom VDI Client. This will be in .msi format. Download and install it normally on your Workspot desktop or template or desktop.
See Zoom’s Getting started with VDI article for general information on installation and testing.
See Zoom’s Mass-deploying with preconfigured settings for Windows for unattended and bulk installations.
