Note: This document is for using standard Microsoft Remote Desktop Gateways with your Workspot deployment. This is only recommended for use with your on-premises datacenters. For Cloud deployments, we recommend Managed Gateways Gateways.
The RD Gateway integration with Workspot Control enables Workspot Client users (end-users) to use your new or existing RD Gateways to connect to Workspot resources inside your internal corporate or private network from any Internet-connected device running the Workspot Client. The Workspot resources can be Workspot desktops (Windows desktops), Workspot RD Pools (Windows RD Session Host servers), or RD Session Host servers running RemoteApp programs.
Prerequisites
A Microsoft Server instance running Remote Gateway Services, either standalone or in high-availability mode.
RDS Host(s) with applicable licenses and applications installed. That is, Windows desktops and servers running the Workspot Desktop Agent.
(Optional) A Remote Desktop Services (RDS) implementation: RDS Farm with one RDS Broker (or more for high availability).
Creating the RD Gateway
The RD Gateway itself is a standard Microsoft RD Gateway. See the Microsoft documentation for creating it.
Creating an RD Gateway Profile in Workspot Control
Follow these steps to create an RD Gateway profile in Workspot Control:
Go to Setup > RD Gateway
Click on the Add RD Gateway button and describe the Gateway (Name, URI, Use the default setting for "Allow Self Signed Certificates" for now).
Submit the profile by clicking on the Add RD Gateway button. The message "RD Gateway created successfully" is shown.
Specifying the Gateway in Workspot Pools and Applications
Follow these steps to use the RD Gateway defined in Workspot Control for Remote Connections to desktops and to utilize applications in RDS environment:
The figure below illustrates how to define a Workspot Application that opens up the desktop of a support server. Go to Resources > Applications and click on the Add Application button.
(*) The key to routing through the RD Gateway is to Select the "No" radio button and pick the desired RD Gateway from the drop-down that becomes visible.
This figure illustrates how to define a Workspot Application that opens up WordPad published in an RDS Farm. Go to Resources > Applications and click on the Add Application button.
(*) The key to routing through the RD Gateway is to Select the "No" radio button and pick the desired RD Gateway from the drop-down that becomes visible.
Troubleshooting
Verify transport settings using the RD Gateway manager.
Verify proper RD Gateway deployment using Windows RD Client.
Launch the WordPad from the Workspot applications panel.
Verify that WordPad launched.
