CAMPBELL, Calif. -- July 18, 2023

Workspot, the intelligent Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) Platform built for the
multi-cloud era, announced today that Landis+Gyr, an industry leader in energy
management solutions, is meeting its competitive sustainability goals through
cloud adoption and end-user computing modernization with multi-cloud,
multi-region virtual desktops.

Given its extensive portfolio of smart grid technologies that help reduce CO2
emissions, Landis+Gyr sought out IT modernization partners that are tightly
aligned with the company’s commitment to sustainability. To create operational
and business efficiencies, Landis+Gyr decided to move away from on-premises
data centers and move key workloads to the cloud with the goal of greater
agility, stronger security, and more flexibility, while also enhancing the
end-user experience.

With the help of professional services company Accenture, Landis+Gyr began
migrating applications and data from seven data centers into the cloud. In
parallel, Workspot led the end-user computing modernization project. After
evaluating several virtual desktop solutions, the team found them to be
complex to deploy and tedious to manage. Only Workspot could meet their
requirements for global, single pane of glass management, integration with
their preferred security stack, and multi-cloud support. Furthermore, virtual
desktops can now be procured with almost no effort, and the cost for
Landis+Gyr is often 50% lower than provisioning a physical PC.

The Landis+Gyr IT team discovered that Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud could
offer specific capabilities for each of their use cases. For the initial
deployment, software developers used Workspot high-end virtual desktops on
Microsoft Azure, taking advantage of nested virtualization capabilities, while
virtual desktops were also deployed on Google Cloud for use by IT employees
and contractors.

Executive Quotes

Steve Crawford, Senior Cloud Infrastructure Manager, Landis+Gyr said, “We have
been able to take a PC provisioning process that took 5-10 business-days and
reduce it to 1 or 2 days. That’s an average 75% improvement in the time it
takes to deliver a PC into people’s hands. Our VDI modernization project also
improved customer approval ratings due to a lowered delivery time and improved
cost efficiency from a budget perspective. Our IT team manages the global
Workspot deployment from a single pane of glass; a transformational capability
that is not possible with any other virtual desktop solutions on the market.”

“Landis+Gyr shares our values for driving continuous innovation, and I’m very
pleased that our cloud-native DaaS platform met all their requirements and
more, helping them accelerate the evolution of their product line,” said Jimmy
Chang, Chief Product Officer. “In conjunction with our partners, Workspot is
contributing to the broader goal of impacting climate change by better
enabling Landis+Gyr end customers to manage energy consumption.”

Jeremy S. Weinstein, Director of US Cloud Solution Providers at Intel
Corporation confirms, “Performance and scalability continue to be top of mind
for customers around the world. Intel collaborated with Workspot to optimize
their virtual desktop platform offering across public clouds, enabling vCPU
performance on Intel® Xeon® Scalable processor-based instances. With these
optimizations, Landis+Gyr can lower their cost, improve performance and
overachieve their scaling needs.”

“Landis+Gyr, Workspot, and Intel partnered with Google Cloud to enable the
next generation of cloud-based energy management solutions for smart
infrastructure and smart cities. Through this partnership, Landis+Gyr and
Google Cloud help utility companies manage grid operations with more
visibility and empower energy consumers to use energy in a more informed and
sustainable way. Our partnership collaboration enables Landis+Gyr to drive
agility and reduce cost over time,” said Scott Barneson, Managing Director,
ISV Sales at Google Cloud.
