End of Support: Workspot Windows Client on Windows 7
Effective Date: January 14, 2020
Details
The Microsoft Windows 7 operating system has reached the end of extended support as of January 14, 2020. Workspot has ended support for Windows 7 at the same time.
Note (September 24, 2019): Also, future Workspot products will no longer install on pre-SP1 Windows 7 systems because the oldest Windows 7 releases only support SHA1-based certificates, and code-signing certificates are not available with valid dates beyond December 31, 2019. Because of this, future Workspot Windows releases will omit the SHA-1 certificates entirely and will not install on pre-SP1 Windows 7 systems.
Recommendation
Customers running the Workspot Windows Client on Windows 7 systems should upgrade their systems to Windows 10 (preferred) or Windows 8.
FAQ
Q: What happens if some of my users continue to use Windows 7 devices (for example, with BYOD devices)?
A: Workspot Windows Client releases through version 3.5.2 have been tested with Windows 7, but are no longer supported. Later releases may fail to install or run and are not supported. Windows 7 bugs will not be fixed (unless they are also present in Windows 10).
