Prev Next

Updated with resolution on December 13, 2024

Issue

A few customers using Okta Windows Client Authentication are seeing issues when they attempt to connect to their desktops or applications. Users see the following types of errors: “Authentication failed, Server Disconnected..."

Resolution

This is fixed in Workspot Windows Client 6.2.1, scheduled for beta release on December 14, 2024 and production on December 21, 2024. The Preview automatic deployment ring will be updated to 6.2.1 as part of the beta release; the Stable deployment ring will be updated as part of the production release.

See the release notes for more information about installation.

Workaround

If your end-users are impacted, as a temporary workaround until Workspot Windows Client 6.2.1 is available, we recommend that you downgrade the Windows Client to the previous version, Windows Client 6.1.1.

If you are using the Client Software (Deployment Rings) feature in Control, downgrades can be achieved easily by configuring a Custom Ring,  selecting Windows Client 6.1.1, and edit your users’ Group definitions (“Users > Groups > groupname) to specify the new Custom Ring with the “Upgrade Only” option deselected. Please note that during downgrades, the existing client will be uninstalled and users will need to enter the Company Identifier to continue with the installation.
