# Customer Advisory: Sign-in Changes with Control 18.2

## What is Changing

**Starting with Control 18.2, the sign-in process for Workspot Control changes:**

1. The *Company Identifier* must be provided to sign in to Workspot Control, just as it is for Clients (see [Now Required: Company Identifier Field for Clients](/v1/docs/now-required-company-identifier-field-for-clients)).
2. [https://control.workspot.com](https://control.workspot.com) is no longer the preferred sign-in URL.
  - The preferred sign-in URL is now [https://control.workspot.com*/companyIdentifier*](https://control.workspot.com/companyIdentifier)
  - [https://control.workspot.com](https://control.workspot.com) will continue to work, but you must enter your Company Identifier manually.
3. If Control sign-in via Entra ID (Azure AD) or SAML sign-in are enabled, one of these becomes the default sign-in method at the URLs above.

**Unsupported Workspot Clients (released before mid-2024) no longer work:**

Legacy Clients do not support data sovereignty and URL changes and will not work once Control enforces their use.

Additional information will be available soon.

## Actions Required

### 1. Company Identifier

- ***Make sure your Control administrators know your Company Identifier*****and are prepared to provide it when signing into Control.
  - See [Finding Your Company Identifier](/v1/docs/now-required-company-identifier-field-for-clients).

### 2. New Preferred URLs

**Bookmark**your new preferred URLs:

- The new preferred URL is:
  - You will not be asked for a Company Identifier when you include it in the URL this way.
  - The URL above will be redirected to the Control instance of your Workspot deployment, currently either control.us.workspot.com or control.eu.workspot.com.
- The local sign-in URL for *non*-Entra ID/SAML Control users on an Entra ID/SAML-enabled deployment is: [https://control.workspot.com/login/local/*companyIdentifier*](https://control.workspot.com/login/local/companyIdentifier)
- For Workspot Watch, the preferred URL is now: [https://watch.us.workspot.com](https://watch.us.workspot.com)[*/CompanyIdentifier*](https://watch.us.workspot.com/CompanyIdentifier)*.*
  - Customers on the EU instance will use: [https://watch.eu.workspot.com](https://watch.us.workspot.com)[*/CompanyIdentifier*](https://watch.us.workspot.com/CompanyIdentifier)*.*
- For Workspot Trends, the preferred URL is now: [https://trends.us.workspot.com](https://watch.us.workspot.com)[*/CompanyIdentifier*](https://trends.us.workspot.com/CompanyIdentifier)
  - And [https://tends.eu.workspot.com](https://watch.us.workspot.com)[*/CompanyIdentifier*](https://watch.us.workspot.com/CompanyIdentifier)**for customers who select the EU instance of Control.

**Backward Compatibility.**The previous sign-in URLs (https://control.workspot.com and so on) will continue to work in most cases. See our section on [Backward Compatibility](/docs/customer-advisory-sign-in-changes-with-control-182#backward-compatibility) for details.

### 3. Internet Firewalls

*If you restrict outgoing HTTPS (TCP port 443) traffic*, additional DNS subdomains and URLs need to be allowed through your Internet firewalls. Access via legacy URLs will be redirected to one of these.

Most addresses have increased from a single variation to three: as in “control.workspot.com,” “control.eu.workspot.com,” and “control.us.workspot.com.” The “us” and “eu” versions match the two regional Control instances.

## Domain/URL Use by Product

See [Internet Firewalls and Workspot](/v1/docs/internet-firewalls-and-workspot).

## Backward Compatibility

- The familiar URLs will continue to work for your preferred sign-in method (only).
  - [https://control.workspot.com](https://control.workspot.com) *now asks for your Company Identifier,* and then takes you to the Entra ID (Azure AD), SAML, or local Control sign-in page, according to the default set in Control.
  - [https://*companyIdentifier*-aad.workspot.com](https://companyIdentifier-aad.workspot.com) is redirected to the Entra ID sign-in page if Entra ID is your default sign-in method. Otherwise, it is redirected to Control’s local sign-in page.
  - [https://*companyIdentifier*-saml.workspot.com](https://companyIdentifier-saml.workspot.com) is redirected to the SAML sign-in page if SAML is your default sign-in method. Otherwise, it is redirected to Control’s local sign-in page.
  - [https://control.workspot.com/login/local/companyIdentifier](https://control.workspot.com/login/local/companyIdentifier) is the Control local sign-in page for AD-based and Control-only accounts.
