Create Workspot Control Tenant

This article covers the creation of your Workspot installation and is part of the Getting Started with Workspot article series.

Sign up for Workspot

This will create a Workspot Pilot/test drive deployment that can be converted into (or replaced by) a production deployment:

This will sign you up for a free 30-day Workspot test drive including access to:

  • Workspot Control to manage your deployment, including the creation of desktop pools, application pools, and RD gateways.

  • Workspot Watch and Trends to monitor your deployment

  • Workspot Clients for end-user access to your Workspot desktops and applications.

  1. In a browser, choose one of these signup URLs:

  2. Fill in the form. Critical fields:

    • The “Corporate Email” address will be used as the administrative account for your Workspot Deployment. Domains such as “gmail.com” are not allowed.

    • Set “Company Headquarters” to your actual corporate headquarters location, not your personal location.

    • Set the “Control Deployment Location” to “European Union” if your HQ is the EU, and “United States” otherwise.

  3. Press “Sign Up.”

  1. Wait for the email sent to the address you provided. This may take a few minutes.

  2. Click the link. You will see a second form:

  1. Fill in the form. Notable fields:

    • The Company Identifier:

      • Is used by all your end-users when they use the Workspot Client for the first time.

      • Is part of the URLs you use to access Workspot Control, Watch and Trends.

      • Should be a version of your organization’s name.

      • Cannot contain punctuation or special characters except for a hyphen.

    • The password will be used along with the email address you provided in the previous form when you sign into Workspot Control.

  2. Press “Register.”

  3. You should be signed in automatically to the “Add Public Cloud” page of Workspot Control. Leave this browser tab open. We deal with it in the next article.

  1. If you see the “Dashboard” page instead, with a note to configure directory services, follow the steps in the next section.

Authentication Setup

Note: Skip this step unless signing into Control gave you the yellow, “Before proceeding, learn about setting up Workspot authentication here.”

  • Log onto Workspot Control if you are not signed in already.

    • Use the link provided in the second Workspot email or

    • From a browser, navigate to https://control.workspot.com and enter the Company Identifier and login credentials you provided previously.

  • You will be presented with the initial configuration screen to “Configure Directory Services.”

Select Directory Service

  • Click on “Click here to configure” to get to the Configure Directory Services page.

  • Unless you have arranged with Workspot to use the “Entra ID Only” option, select “Active Directory – including Azure Active Directory with Client Authentication.”

  • To use the Entra ID Only option, follow the instructions in Configuring an Entra-ID-Only Control Account, then return here.

  • Click Continue.

Add a Named License User

  • Apply a Named License to the Control Admin account you used to sign in by adding it to the “Named License Group.” Click on Users > Groups > Configure Named License Group.

  • Select “None” for Directory to manually add users to the list and apply Named Licenses. Click “Add User.” (We will use a Directory Service later, when it is fully configured.)

  • Select users and click “Add.”

  • Click “Save.”
